Will You Join Me?

This past week I sat and discussed scriptures and doctrine with a wonderful couple for over an hour and a half.  They were polite and kind, yet determined and knowledgeable of the scriptures.  We spent most of the conversation differentiating between gifts of the Spirit and the gift of the Holy Spirit.  I pray a seed was planted in their hearts that causes them to seek for more of God. If It Is To Be, It Is Up To Me

A Lark and Her Young Ones
By Aesop
A Lark had made her nest in the early spring on the young green wheat. The brood had almost grown to their full strength and attained the use of their wings and the full plumage of their feathers, when the owner of the field, looking over his ripe crop, said, “The time has come when I must ask all my neighbors to help me with my harvest.”
One of the young larks heard his speech and related it to his mother, inquiring of her to what place they should move for safety.  “There is no occasion to move yet, my son,” she replied; “the man who only sends to his friends to help him with his harvest is not really in earnest.” Read the rest of this entry

His Truth Is Marching On

I have been blessed to be raised in the church.  Even in my short, young 33 years I have seen a lot of Apostolic heritage.  We are blessed to be a part of such a great church.  Many men have sacrificed their lives to bring us this gospel.  Whether by physically laying down their lives or by sacrificing their own wants and desires to carry out the great commission. Christ Did Not Die For You

I love the story of the cross and how Jesus laid down His life for us.  When you truly understand that He died to give us life it make the message even more powerful.  2 Corinthians 5:14-15 says it best.  Paul said, “Our firm decision is to work from this focused center: One man died for everyone. That puts everyone in the same boat. He included everyone in his death so that everyone could also be included in his life, a resurrection life, a far better life than people ever lived on their own” (The Message). When Your Enemy Becomes Your Ally

Over the past decade relations between the US and Venezuelan had fallen apart ending with broken diplomatic ties in September of 2008.  It was much to my surprise to read this past week that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that he was in support of President Barack Obama.
I bring this up as an illustration and not as a commentary on politics.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about what is best for America and for the world.  But that is a whole other discussion and debate.  Read the rest of this entry

Change Is In The Air

Fall is in the air.  The sun is setting earlier each day.  The temperatures are dropping.  We are seeing rain again. What does this all mean?  Yes college football began this weekend but that is not what I was getting at. Read the rest of this entry

Buy Him Flowers

James gives us a great perspective on our walk with God.  James 2:14 reads, “Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it?“ (The Message)  If talking about faith is all it took then I know some of the most religious people on earth.  Because they are always talking about what God can do. Save Money, Avoid $tarbucks

I have waited as long as I possibly could to start this aspect of my blog.  I have 2 main passions in life.   The first is God and everything dealing with Him.  You can see my passion for Christ in my posts.  I constantly want to lead people into living for Christ in everything they do.  It is my calling – it is my life.  I thank God for New Life Pflugerville.  This church is serious about developing disciples for God.

My second passion is food.  Or more specifically, my passion is cooking food.  And even more specific, I love coffee. Read the rest of this entry

Mary Rose Early

We have all heard the phrase “the early bird gets the worm”.  It was probably said to you as your mother tried to pry you from your bed to get you to school.  While getting up early does have its advantages, this adage has more application than getting up before the sun.
John 20 tells the story of Mary of Magdalene, whom Jesus had cast 7 demons out of, going to the tomb of Jesus.  The Bible specifically states, “The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the  sepulchre  and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre” (John 20:1).  Read the rest of this entry

How Far Is Too Far?

In Luke 15 we see the story of a young man who asks for his inheritance and then proceeds to leave home.  It states, “And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country” (Luke 15:13).   When reading this we assume he traveled a long ways.  But “a far country” is relative.  How do you convert “a far country” to miles?
