I have waited as long as I possibly could to start this aspect of my blog.  I have 2 main passions in life.   The first is God and everything dealing with Him.  You can see my passion for Christ in my posts.  I constantly want to lead people into living for Christ in everything they do.  It is my calling – it is my life.  I thank God for New Life Pflugerville.  This church is serious about developing disciples for God.

My second passion is food.  Or more specifically, my passion is cooking food.  And even more specific, I love coffee.  As some of you know, my friend Stephen MacLauchlan and I opened a coffee shop in 2003.  I miss owning that coffee shop.  When New Life Church of Pflugerville builds a new building it will have a coffee shop in it.

Occasionally I will use this blog to post thoughts and knowledge about my second passion.  Since we are still in the heat of the summer I figured I would pass on a very basic recipe that could keep you cool and save you a TON of cash.  For all of the Starbucks fans out there who love a cool blended Frappucino but hate paying $4.00 a pop then this is for you.  Here is my recipe for making a cheap alternative to Starbucks Frappucinos.  This is a basic recipe – flavor it as you desire.  Be creative.  Starbucks does not have a monopoly on creativity!

Basic Frappucino

Ingredients
1 – ½ pot of double strength coffee
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
Ice
Sauce to flavor
Whipped cream for garnish
 
Directions
            Make a ½ pot of double strength coffee by adding enough grounds to make a full pot of coffee, but only use ½ pot of water.  Let the coffee brew as normal.  Once the coffee is done brewing, while the coffee is still hot, mix in the entire can of sweetened condensed milk.  Put the mixture in the fridge to cool. 
            Once the mixture is cool put ice in a blender and pour the coffee mixture to the top of the ice.  Add caramel, chocolate, or vanilla (or whatever flavor you would want) to your taste and blend until smooth.  Pour into a cup and top with whipped cream and additional sauce for garnish.  The mixture will store in the refrigerator for several days.
